Commissions

If you are interested in a custom artwork, here is how the process works.

PAINTING COMMISSION

STEP 1:

Firstly, we need to work out the size, style and colour palette of your painting. It can be helpful if you look at my previous artworks for an idea of what you particularly like. You may be drawn to bright pops of colour or you may prefer a softer, neutral tone artwork. We can discuss the space the artwork is intended for and what will complement your existing furnishings. If you would like specific flowers included because they have meaning to you, we can also include those. I’ll provide you with a brief where you can outline these preferences.

STEP 2:

Once we’ve decided on the above aspects, I’ll send you a quote and provide a timeframe. A 30% deposit is required to begin the painting. As a rough guideline, the whole process for the commission is 1 week for concepts and changes, 2 weeks for painting and 2 weeks for framing.

STEP 3:

I'll send you a digital illustration of what your painting will look like, for your approval. We can discuss the concept and make any changes needed to ensure the painting you imagined is exactly what you’ll receive.

STEP 4:

With the design approved, the paint colours prepped, the canvas ready and the frame decided, I’ll set about bringing your artwork to life!

STEP 5:

I will send you a photo of the completed, framed artwork and the remainder of the invoice is now due. The artwork is then carefully packaged and couriered to its new home, the most exciting part for you!

HAND-PAINTED MURAL COMMISSION:

STEP 1:

As with an original painting commission, we’ll start by talking through the size, style and colour palette you would like for your mural. It can be helpful if you look through my previous murals and paintings for inspiration. I’ll also send through a questionnaire to get the specifics of the area being painted. The price list will give you a rough idea of the fee.

STEP 2:

Once you have decided on the size and style of your mural, I will send you a quote and provide a timeframe. When the quote is accepted, a 30% deposit is required to begin the design process. The remainder will be paid once the project is complete.

STEP 3:

I’ll provide a very exact digital design for your approval. This is your opportunity to discuss the concept, and for us to make any changes needed.

STEP 4:

With the design approved I will set it to the exact scale of the mural, so I’m ready to sketch it up on the surface when I arrive. I will then mix all colours to prepare for painting, as well as gather the tools and hire any equipment (such as scaffolding) needed to complete the mural, to be delivered to site or provided by me. Some murals require little more than a ladder and my paints and brushes, while others take extra consideration.

STEP 5:

I’m ready to paint! I am based in Byron Bay, so depending on where the mural location is, I may need to travel. Once I arrive on site, the sketching of the mural begins, and then I work full days painting two coats of each colour, until the artwork is complete!

As a rough guideline, the whole process for a hand-painted mural commission is:

- 1 to 1.5 weeks for the design concept, feedback and changes

- 1 day of colour prep work, gathering equipment and creating the design to scale

- 1 day of travel to the destination

- Anywhere from 2-10 days for painting the mural depending on the complexity and size. This will be specified in the quote

PRINTED MURAL/WALLPAPER/DECALS COMMISSION:

STEP 1:

If you choose a printed mural rather than a hand painted one, I am able to offer these wherever you are in the world. By cutting out the need to be there in person to paint the mural, we can send the printed mural design rolled in a protective tube for you to install on your end.

The same process is applied as the first few steps of a hand painted mural, where you will answer a brief and a creation of a digital design for approval will be emailed to you. There will be 2-3 rounds of feedback and changes until you approve the mural design. This whole process of the concept design and approval will be approximately 1.5 weeks.

STEP 2:

Once the design is approved, I then do a final set up of the digital design to the exact specifications of the wall it will be installed and prepare the file for printing.

STEP 3:

The mural is printed and carefully packaged in a protective tube. I arrange the delivery of the printed mural/decals to site and installation will be required on your end. You can choose to install it yourself or hire a signwriter to professionally install it. Precise instructions are included and it is a very easy and removable material to work with (fortunately nothing like the process of glue applied wallpapers!). The material I’ve chosen ensures if you mess it up during install, you’ll be able to remove it and place it back down again.
